Food For Thought

If you’re after a bite to eat, you could go a long way to find anywhere better than Sandinista! With a wide range of informal dining options to suit all tastes, occasions and budgets, multi award-winning Sandinista! caters for everything from a quick business lunch to leisurely evenings with tapas and drinks.

Traditionally the word ‘tapa’ is used to describe a small dish of food, served as a snack to complement drinks. The dining experience at Sandinista! is based around the cantina style; eating and sharing tapas is a fun, social and tactile affair, the true genius being that you can order as little, or indeed as much, as you like.

The idea is to have a bottle of wine, a couple beers or try one of Sandinista!’s inspired cocktails whilst sharing a bowl of nachos or olives in convivial and effortlessly honest surroundings. The next step is enhancing your drink with a house favourite or two such as Croquetas de Pollo (chicken croquettes) or Albondigas (home-made meatballs). The full menu is diverse in its offerings, there are daily Chef’s Specials, freshly made Bocadillos (sarnies), hearty Sunday roasts and a wide selection of vegetarian and gluten-free dishes, all made with ethical and organically sourced ingredients.

You could be forgiven for thinking that the laid-back atmosphere may result in relaxed service. This is certainly not the case. No one, from door staff to management, can do enough to make you feel more welcome and appreciated as shown in our recent success as runner-up in the Best Service category in the Leeds Restaurant Awards of 2007.

The creativity is as evident in the surroundings as it is in the menu. The distinctive décor perfectly complements imaginative Spanish tapas and classic dishes from around the world, all served with a thoroughly modern twist. To a background of excellent eclectic music, live sessions on Wednesdays and Sundays and funky DJ sets, Sandinista! also offers outdoor cafe seating, a wide range of reading materials and board games, ensuring that there is certainly something for everyone.
